History - AMC
September 16th, 2008 by Randy SlabeyWe have AMC used cars by owner for sale at bargain prices.
The merger between the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company led to the establishment of American Motors Corporation or AMC on January 14, 1954. During this year AMC was considered the most prevalent corporate merger in the United States’ history. However, AMC did not continue to grow on its own since Chrysler Corporation bought AMC in 1987. Although, the Jeep line and some Eagle models of AMC went on.
The peak of the product development of AMC was in 1950s when their Rambler model became the fastest-selling cars. Nash and Hudson product lines in the form of Nash Statesman, Hudson Wasp and Hudson Hornet which were called badge-engineered Ramblers during the 1950s are actually the restyled products of Chrysler.
And when engine is being discussed AMC or Hudson and Nashes engines have strong influence in the engine industry as they kept on offering the 308 CID (5L) I6 that NASCAR champion in early 1950s utilized. More products were manufactured during the 1960s as their sales went stronger, thus the creation of signature-car models and personal-luxury cars. Then the fiscal years for AMC occurred in the 1970s until it sought reliance with Renault in the 1980s which at the end suffered changes and problems in the company management and was sold to Chrysler Corporation.
With this sweeping history, AMC models are now thought of as future collectibles.
