History - Daewoo
We have Daewoo used cars by owner for sale at bargain prices.
GM Daewoo Auto and Technology in 1937 was founded in Incheon, South Korea as National Motor. However, it was only in 1972 when it was incorporated to General Motors under the name General Motors, Korea. Moreover, in 1982 when the Daewoo Group gained control the name was once again amended as Daewoo Motor.
As the Daewoo history tells, the 1990s was the turning point for Daewoo as it became bigger worldwide and when the Daewoo produced cars based on GM models. But Asian financial crisis in 1999 put a hiatus at Daewoo for another while. With these challenges upon Daewoo it was a recovery time for Daewoo when General Motors purchased most of Daewoo’s assets from GM Daewoo. So, GMDAT continued its part in the automotive industry equipped with potent designs and well-engineered models, hence, it was an easy task for the corporation to manufactured plants in such countries: China, Thailand, India, and Colombia. The evidence of its effect in the market is found in 140 countries totaling 900,000 sold cars globally.
An interesting note to mark in Daewoo’s heritage was the badge engineering to infiltrate the local market and increase its sales. This was when GM made the verdict of selling the Daewoo Lacetti bearing the brand Chevrolet Optra and as expected it gained success in countries like China, Canada, India, and Israel.
Hence, the re-labeling did not cease to exist since until now GM still dominates the market with re-labeled brands.
